Here’s Day One of our 3 Day Eczema Information Series – Stop Scratching The Surface…
Today we’re covering Eczema and Moisturisers… myths…truths… and how to really know that what you’re putting on your body is safe – EVEN if it has been recommended to you by a health professional….
I found Aesop hand wash to be an irritant to my hands until I changed to Cetaphil (body wash) to wash my hands and made vast improvements!
“green washing” or “organic” or “natural” or minimalist packaging can make us think products will be safe or low/non-tox but sometimes they aren’t. It’s up to us as consumers to be proactive and know how to find out this information for ourselves.
Ooh. Can you comment later here how to spell those irritants you jusy mentioned?

good to find something that you’re happy with using and that’s working for you Laurie!
#replay – can you list those potential food allergy ingredients in writing for reference, please?
I have scoured allll of the research Laurie Riddin – so in animal and human studies the food-based ingredients linked with oral food allergies include: coconut, wheat, nuts (peanuts), soy, goats milk, dairy, oats…
#replay I couldn’t find the live last night so watching this morning. I’m from Sydney and my daughter just turned 2. Eczema is a very new thing for her (August-ish) and still fairly mild.
Hi Julia! Welcome. Apologies on the tech issues… literally purchased a new computer yesterday so I could do the videos so the videos wasn’t quite where it should have been :0)
#reply looking forward to your recommendations now because my gp mentioned the food allergy connection and then said you’re left with mineral oils, synthetic etc – which comes with its own bag of problems as you mentioned. So that left me confused of course and sticking to what I was doing which is potentially harmful due to the milk product.
# replay I’m from Brisbane and my little one is seven months old with mild eczema. I use dermeze and E45 and steroid cream for flare ups.
Welcome Bi! Thanks for joining us on this 3 day eczema info session!
Can you specify the names of 9 ingredients not to be on moisturizers.
the top skin irritants – in a comment above Anuhya Narendra
Hi I m from UK and my daughter is 6 years old .she has mild eczema .I want to ask is there any link between the food and eczema . That eczema got flare up by using certain types of food .
Hi Romana Kanwal – great question. Certainly yes the research suggests there is a link, and many of those I work with find this is the case too. However, it’s important that any restriction of diet is monitored closely as I see many people down to a handful of “safe foods” which is not helpful long term and can in fact be detrimental. What are you finding flares up your daughter’s skin?
Too much intake of sugar flares her eczema
